WEBINAR NGN AUSTRIA & FRANCE:
Introduction: Igor Silva
Recent advancements in direct-current technology from the high-voltage transport and low-voltage consumption have brought medium-voltage DC (MVDC) to the forefront. Igor will show an overview about what CIGRE and other communities have done about the subject, the main gaps in the domain, and challenges for the upcoming years.
Speaker 1: Sameh Betamony
Sameh will introduce the OPHELIA MVDC Project, which focuses on the development of a linear photovoltaic (PV) system. It will provide a brief overview of the project’s electrical and control structure, outlining the main components and their interactions. The presentation will also cover the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) validation carried out to evaluate system performance. Finally, a demo video will be shown to illustrate one of the tests conducted using the HIL setup.
Speaker 2: Patrik Ratheiser
Patrik will focus on the project ‘DC Hub Austria’, which will implement the MVDC transmission in Austria for the first time. Therefore, an exploratory project was carried out to investigate the technical feasibility and possibilities of MVDC transmission in Austria. This project involves the use of standard MVAC cable systems at an increased DC voltage. The presentation will explain and discuss the technical feasibility, tests, and usability of standard MVAC cable systems under DC stress.
